Some of the publications with illustrations from Darwin Online

In order to reproduce materials from Darwin Online in another publication or broadcast, written (email) permission must be sought from the Director, Dr John van Wyhe. Specify exactly which image(s) you would like to reproduce (with URL, e.g. http://darwin-online.org.uk/content/frameset?itemID=F14&viewtype=image&pageseq=392)

Permission is not required for referenced quotations, use in talks and presentations or unpublished exhibition posters, student papers and theses or to link to Darwin Online from another website. High-resolution images are available for many images for a one-time 50GBP administration charge per image.

Note: Darwin Online cannot give permission to reproduce the manuscripts, that is, hand-written documents, on the site. Such requests must be sent to the owner of the manuscript. For most manuscripts see the Cambridge University Library Order Form for Digital Images.

Certain other materials, for which Darwin Online has received reproduction permission, may not be reproduced without the permission of the original copyright holder. Therefore it is essential to request permission and specify the image(s).

Ten new Darwin stamps. The Royal Mail. 12 Feb. 2009. − a Galapogos-themed miniature sheet of four stamps pays homage to the influence of the islands on Darwin's thought, while a set of six 'jigsaw' design stamps explore the breadth of the influence of Darwin's idea's across the natural sciences.
